Middle Schoolers Arrested After Planning Horror Movie-Inspired Murder

The girls, caught in the school bathroom with weapons, planned to kill students, drink their blood and then take their own lives.

Police say the girls planned their attack while watching scary movies over the weekend.

Two girls, 11 and 12, were arrested on Tuesday after being discovered hiding in the bathroom of their middle school with weapons. The girls were allegedly planning to murder their classmates as part of a satanic ritual.

Authorities at Bartow Middle School in Florida say the girls were caught by a staff member before anyone was hurt, according to ABC News.

The girls had a goblet, knives and other weapons such as a pizza cutter and knife sharpener. They told the school principal they were planning to murder at least 15 classmates, according to Bartow Police Chief Joe Hall.

“They had a strong belief in Satanism and they believed the more people they killed the faster they would go to hell,” Hall said.

The girls were waiting for smaller students to enter the bathroom so their victims would be easier to attack, according to the police affidavit. After killing their victims, the girls planned to cut up their bodies, eat the flesh, drink their blood and then take their own lives, reports TIME.

“The plan was to kill at least one student but were hoping to kill anywhere from 15-25 students,” the affidavit said. “Killing all of these students was in hopes it would make them worse sinners ensuring that after they committed suicide…would go to hell so they could be with Satan.”

According to detectives, the girls plotted the event while watching scary movies over the weekend.

When the girls were missing from class on Tuesday morning, an automatic call was placed to their homes. One of the girl’s mother called back saying her daughter should be in class, leading the assistant principal to find the girls in the bathroom, reports CNN.

After searching the girl’s homes, hand-written maps and plans were found that included the phrase, “go to kill bathroom.” Text messages were also recovered between the girls discussing their plot.

Authorities say they had already placed extra security at the school that day after another student reported a rumor about a possible attack on the school. Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd says extra police officers and counselors will be at the school for the remainder of the week.

The two girls were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, possession of a weapon on school property, carrying a concealed weapon and disruption of school function.

Prosecutors will decide whether the girls will be charged formally as juveniles or adults. The girls were sent to a juvenile detention facility after their arrest.
