3 Camden County College Public Safety Officers Save Lives, Celebrated

Two of the victims were suffering from an opioid overdose until the officers revived them with an opioid reversal drug, Narcan.

The Camden County Board of Trustees showed their thanks to the three officers who saved lives this past year.

Three Camden County College campus public safety officers were honored last week for saving the lives of three people.

The three were recognized during the Camden County College Board of Trustees meeting on Feb. 5 in Blackwood, N.J., reports TAPinto Camden.

Officer Dawn Pasquale responded to an unconscious individual at the Camden County College’s Technology Center on Feb. 5, 2018. The individual was suffering from a lethal amount of an opioid drug.

Pasquale administered Narcan, a nasal spray that is used for the emergency treatment of an opioid overdose. She applied sternum rubs and revived the individual and then made sure they were safely transported to a medical facility for further treatment.

On Nov. 6, Officer Kimberly Snyder responded to an individual who had collapsed on the street. She determined the individual was experiencing the effects of an opioid overdose.

Snyder also revived the individual by administering Narcan and waited until first responders arrived for further treatment.

Sargeant Ryan Taggart was in the college’s Community Center campus on Oct. 30, when he responded to a choking incident in the cafeteria.

After administering back blows and abdominal thrusts on the choking victim, he successfully dislodged the object from the individual’s airway and the victim was able to breathe again.

“The actions you all took undoubtedly saved lives, and you are to be commended for your service to our college community,” said Donald Borden, President of Camden County College, in a statement. “The level of professionalism and ability you demonstrated on the job resulted in positive outcomes for each of the individuals you saved.”
